Make a shortlist of two or three models
Open their product pages or keep the links in one note. Compare the same details for each: exact model and variant, assembled dimensions, space needed during use, included parts, materials and total cost with any extras you need. Write down missing information as a question for us. A photo can help you understand the layout; the model's stated measurements and instructions should guide the decision.
Choose a play kitchen
The menu can change halfway through cooking. When you choose the kitchen, start with where it will stand, what the child can do with it and which play utensils you already have.
Measure the kitchen and the space in front
- Assembled size: note width, depth and total height. Package dimensions describe the box, not the finished kitchen.
- Worktop height: check this separately from total height. A back panel or shelf can make the whole kitchen taller without raising the play surface.
- Room to use it: allow for any doors or drawers to open and for someone to stand at the kitchen. Follow any positioning or anchoring instructions for the model.
Compare what happens during play
Look for the functions actually described: opening storage, turning controls, a removable basin or another feature. Check which are included on your chosen variant. Note where utensils can be kept and how much of the work surface remains available for play.
Use the contents list to check utensils, pretend food and other accessories. Items in a room photo may be props. If a model has sound or light functions, check what is needed to use them and whether it is included.
Look at the parts and the assembly
Read the material information for the frame, worktop, doors and accessories where provided. Solid wood, plywood and MDF are different materials; a wood-coloured finish does not identify a wood species. Check the assembly instructions, required tools and any parts that need fitting before use.
Your comparison note: assembled depth, worktop height, storage layout, included accessories and anything you would need to buy separately. Which differences matter for the pretend meals you have in mind?
Plan a drawing space, book corner or storage
Think about what needs a place: paper spread out on a table, the books you reach for often or toys that need to be put away. This helps you compare useful space as well as the outside dimensions.
For tables and seating
- Measure separately: note tabletop height, usable surface and seat height. Check the space beneath the tabletop too if you are matching it with an existing chair.
- Plan the room around it: include the space needed to pull chairs out and move past the furniture.
- Check the set: confirm how many chairs are included, if any. Look for any stated restrictions on use or load for each item.
For books and toy storage
Measure the items you want to store, including the largest books or boxes. Compare them with the usable shelf or compartment dimensions. Check whether books are displayed facing forwards or with their spines showing, and whether boxes or baskets are included.
Allow space to open doors, lift lids or pull out containers where relevant. Follow the model's assembly and anchoring instructions. If an internal measurement or an instruction is missing, ask us before you choose.
Compare materials and moving parts
Check the material of shelves, frame, seat and containers separately where specified. Read the care instructions for that model. If a product folds or adjusts, check exactly which part changes, its stated positions and the dimensions in use and in storage.

Choose for climbing, balancing or outdoor play
Start with the intended activity and where the product will be used. Different products can have different requirements for age, load, positioning and supervision. Use the information for the exact model and configuration you are considering.
Check the whole area in use
- Product and clearance: compare assembled dimensions with the space at home, then check the instructions for the required clear area, surface and any anchoring.
- Indoor or outdoor: confirm the stated use. A wooden appearance does not tell you whether a product can be used or stored outdoors.
- Storage: if folding is described, check which parts fold and the stored dimensions. One folding part does not mean the whole set folds.
Read the model's limits
Check the age information, warnings, load limits and use instructions. A product's own weight or package weight is not its load limit. In a set, check whether a limit applies to one part or to the whole configuration. If a key instruction is missing or two figures disagree, contact us before choosing.
Check the set and any extras
Confirm the contents and the assembly instructions, including the tools and fixings required. For a ramp, net or other accessory, check the named compatible models and relevant dimensions. Matching colours or a similar photo are not enough to confirm a fit.
